FAQs
How should I care for my linen?
We recommend washing the linen with a gentle cycle in warm water. Please do not use any bleach when washing as this can damage the fibers. For drying, do not tumble dry but line drying in shade to preserve the quality of the linen.
My linen has some inconsistencies, is it damaged?
Unevenness in the linen may be found as we do not mass produce our products, but rather make them in small batches. Inconsistencies can be expected - this is not considered as a defect but rather the beauty of the fabric and our manufacturing process.
How should I care for my cashmere?
We recommend dry cleaning your cashmere sweaters. If that’s not available, hand washing with baby shampoo also works like a charm! Submerge the sweater in tepid water, gently swirl your sweater and let it soak for 30 minutes. Rinse well by running cool water until the water is no long soapy. To dry, lay your sweater on a bath towel and gently roll the sweater in the towel. Lay flat to dry. And please, never NEVER put your cashmere sweater in the dryer!
We recommend not to wash your cashmere too frequently and wear the sweater 4-5 times between washes or dry cleaning visits. One handy tip for keeping your cashmere looking fresh is to allow the sweater to rest for 2-3 days after a day of wearing.
How do I store my cashmere knits?
Look, all wool and cashmere are going to Store knits folded to prevent stretching or distorting. To prevent moths infestation (yes, moths like wool and cashmere as much as they like open flames), always store sweater clean and store in breathable canvas bag.
How do I prevent and remove pilling?
All wool and cashmere are going to pill at some point. At Common Thread, we work hard to find best quality fiber and techniques to reduce pilling, but there’s no way to get rid of it entirely. And when the sweater starts pilling, don’t panic. Simply use a small pair of scissors or a razor blade to remove the little balls of fluff.
As you continue to remove pills between each wear, you’ll notice the cashmere sweater actually grow softer. Like all the best things in life cashmere improves over time if cared for properly.
